The ADSC was established in 1985 to advise on day surgery/procedure standards and other matters that concern day surgery/procedures.  The ADSC also acts as a portal for information about day surgery/procedures.

As a multidisciplinary the ADSC will be in a unique position to provide advice that is drawn from a wide range of day surgery providers.

The role of the ADSC is to:

INFORM:                 

  • member Organisations about the latest information available across all spheres of Day Surgery / Procedures from the point of view of Facility Owners, Health Professionals, Accrediting Bodies Regulators and Educators

INFLUENCE:            

  • Decision makers involved in Day Surgery / Procedures from Regulators as well as learned bodies e.g. Professional Colleges and Specialist Societies.

INSIGHT:                  

  • Member Organisations will gain insight as to the thoughts of other professional bodies who are members of the ADSC

INDICATORS          

  • The ADSC will continue to provide working party members to advise relevant bodies about Day Surgery Indicators in conjunction with relevant Specialist Medical Colleges/Associations

INTERNATIONAL  

  • The ADSC will maintain membership of the International Association for Ambulatory Surgery to inform members about relevant international day surgery matters.

 

Each member Organisation will be able to inform other members about issues under consideration by their respective Organisation

The Council will continue to seek representation on a wide range of external bodies that  are involved in Day Surgery. Such representation will therefore provide members with alternative input to decision makers as well as direct representation by the particular member Organisation.

The ADSC role does not include writing standards of care although it may maintain multidisciplinary guidelines with the assistance and agreement of  member Organisations.

The ADSC will not run conferences or be involved in activities that could place member organisations at a financial risk

The ADSC will maintain an active website as a Portal where information can be obtained about all aspects of Day Surgery / Procedures.  Where member Organisations have developed either standards or guidelines information will be provided via links to the particular page containing such standards or guidelines.
